||Ryland graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Media, Information and Technoculture (MIT). In 2012, he received his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Windsor and his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit Mercy. In law school, Ryland represented the University of Windsor at the 2011 Philip C Jessup Moot Court Competition and was the Assistant Manager at the Windsor Review of Social and Legal Issues. Ryland was also awarded the Ron Ianni Alumni Scholarship in Law and the Excellence for the Future Award for his academic achievements in law school.
Upon graduation from law school, Ryland articled at a full-service law firm in downtown Toronto, where he primarily focused on tort and commercial litigation matters. Ryland then joined Laxton Glass LLP in 2013.
Ryland practices in all areas of tort and accident benefits claims, and has successfully appeared before the Superior Court of Justice, the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Ontario Small Claims Court, and the License Appeal Tribunal. Ryland has successfully assisted on Arbitrations and priority and loss transfer disputes.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Ryland worked as a sports journalist for a national sports television network.
In his spare time, Ryland enjoys going to the movies, attending concerts and playing the guitar. Ryland has also developed a passion for travelling and has had the opportunity to travel to Iceland, South Africa and the Netherlands. During his time abroad, Ryland has participated in some 'extreme activities' such as, bungee jumping, great white shark diving and ostrich riding.
