Lija obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Queen's University in Psychology in 2010. She completed her Juris Doctor at the University of Windsor in 2014. In her third year of law school, she studied abroad for a semester at Keele University in England. During law school, Lija was actively involved as a caseworker for community legal aid, was the president of the Canadian Lawyers Abroad Club, and was a member of the school's community outreach program and law games committee. In her first summer of law school, Lija developed a passion for advocacy by working for a non-profit organization in Anchorage, Alaska. This organization represented 70 First Nations and Tribes along the Yukon River Watershed.
Lija worked as a summer student and articled at Laxton Glass LLP. She became an associate at the firm upon her call to the bar in 2015. Lija has developed a keen interest in insurance litigation and coverage issues, and practices in all areas of tort claims and statutory accident benefits claims. She is a member of the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
Lija has a love for the outdoors, and enjoys travelling, skiing, attending concerts and cheering on Toronto's sports teams in her spare time. When not at the office, she can often be found taking in the sunset at her family cottage on Georgian Bay with friends and family.
