||Amanda graduated from Queen's University with an Honours Bachelor of Arts in 2002 and went on to complete law school at Queen's University in 2005. Amanda worked at Laxton Glass LLP throughout university, articled with the firm and became an associate upon her call to the bar in 2006.
Amanda has developed a practice with a special interest in the defence of statutory accident benefits claims, tort claims, professional negligence claims, workplace & safety insurance appeals and priority and loss transfer disputes. Amanda has argued various contested motions before the Superior Court of Justice. She has appeared at an Arbitration and Appeal before the Financial Services Commission of Ontario in relation to a claim for catastrophic impairment status. She has represented insurers before the Workplace Safety & Appeals Tribunal in matters where there is an issue over a claimant's right to maintain a personal injury action and/or claim for statutory accident benefits where they have a viable WSIB claim. Amanda has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal on behalf of an insurer on appeal of a private arbitration award. Amanda has also had the opportunity to appear before private arbitrators on numerous priority dispute and loss transfer claims. Amanda is currently in the process of preparing to appear before the Divisional Court on an appeal from a Director's Delegate decision at the Financial Services Commission of Ontario.
Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has developed a passion for travelling and has recently had the opportunity to travel to Russia, Europe, Japan and the Caribbean. She also has a keen interest in digital photography, golf and theatre and enjoys cheering on Toronto's first professional soccer team, the Toronto FC. Amanda is constantly seeking out new adventures and is always looking forward to seeing where life takes her.
